Olfana works because members write honestly about what they smell. These guidelines exist to keep that worth reading.
They apply to everything you post: reviews, ratings, posts and captions, comments, lists, layering recipes, your profile and bio, and — when the feature arrives — photographs.
Do not post content that:
Perfume is cultural. Oud, bakhoor, mukhallat and attar carry meaning and history for many members. Discuss traditions with respect, including ones that are not yours.
Do not post:
Child safety. Child sexual abuse and exploitation is absolutely prohibited and is handled separately and urgently. Read our Child Safety Standards for what is banned, how to report it, and our designated child-safety contact.
Olfana is not a marketplace.
Counterfeits: do not promote, link to, or explain how to obtain fake fragrances.
Uploading photographs is not yet available. When it is:
Note that images in the Olfana catalogue — fragrance and brand pictures — are supplied by brands or licensed by us. They are not member uploads, and these guidelines do not govern them. To raise a complaint about catalogue imagery, see section 8 of the Terms.
If you see something that breaks these guidelines, report it — the option is in the … (More) menu on reviews, comments, posts, lists, layerings and profiles. Tell us what is wrong; the detail box genuinely helps.
You can also block a member. Blocking removes them from your feeds, from search, and from your profile.
What we can promise, and what we cannot. Reports reach us and are recorded, and each one is reviewed by a person. We are still building our review process, so we cannot yet promise a response time, and we do not tell you the outcome of a report about someone else’s content. We would rather say this plainly than commit to a timescale we cannot meet today.
Depending on severity and history, we may:
Serious cases — threats, sexual content involving minors, credible risk of harm — result in immediate removal and may be reported to the authorities.
If you think we got it wrong, contact olfanasupport@gmail.com.
The community is new and the guidelines will grow with it. Material changes will be notified in the app.
